2026 in preview

2025 has concluded. Sayonara 2025.

Much like the year itself, I'm starting over this year. Not from scratch, but maybe atop old foundations. Elaborate!

Late last year I picked up a new hobby, 3D printing. That's been going well, still. I'm messing up measurements less often, and printing usable parts more. I've bought a roll of TPU and I'm looking forward to printing in that soon.

This year I intend to bring on an additional hobby, and start learning guitar and, more broadly, music production. I've bought a cheap electric, a Line 6 Pod Go (all hail the bean), and I've discovered that Reaper seems to have first class support for Linux, and the Linux kernel already has driver support for the Pod. Apart from actually practicing, I just need a functioning USB mini cable to connect the Pod and my PC.

Speaking of Linux - obviously I'll keep chugging along with Linux. We'll see if I write any software or maintain any packages this year. I discovered the miniserve package, which is an extremely lightweight and simple server for eg. getting files off your device. I might make a page documenting my PC setup and various software I enjoy - that would be incredibly self-serving and in the spirit of this blog.

I've also been starting to organize my backlog, and note down the games I want to play, and the books I want to read. I'm contemplating a Qobuz (less evil spotify) subscription to expand my music discovery too. Particularly I want to play Citizen Sleeper 2, and more of the works of Ryukishi07.

I saw the Nine Delights tweet going around again, and maybe I'll fundamentally incorporate it into my belief system for 2026. Happy new year.
